Liverpool Boss Issues Update After Key Man Suffers Injury During Man City Stalemate

Jurgen Klopp has issued a positive update on James Milner after the midfielder limped out of Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp has issued a positive update on James Milner after the midfielder limped out of Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Milner has been a key part of Klopp’s side this season as the 32-year-old has started 10 of Liverpool’s 11 matches in all competitions this campaign with the midfielder chipping in with 2 goals and 2 assists so far.

The former England international was once again selected to line-up alongside Jordan Henderson and Goerginio Wijnaldum in the middle of the park for Liverpool’s top-of-the-table showdown with Manchester City on Sunday.

However, Milner was forced off midway through the first half after picking up a hamstring injury and he was replaced by Naby Keita in the 29th minute at Anfield after being assessed by the clubs physio.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Klopp issued an initial update and it looks like positive news as the Reds boss revealed that Milner doesn’t think the injury will be a serious one.

When asked for an update on Milner, Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com:

“How much [serious]? It’s too early, I don’t know,”

“I asked him ‘big one?’ and he said ‘I don’t think so, but big enough that I go off.'”

Milner will no doubt be further assessed over the coming days but the midfielder now has two weeks to recover from his hamstring issue before Liverpool travel to Huddersfield Town after the international break.
