Team News: Double Boost As Arsenal Offer Update On Ozil, Koscielny, Cech + More

Arsenal have offered a team news update on Arsenal.com with the latest on Mesut Ozil, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Danny Welbeck, Petr Cech, Dinos Mavropanos and Laurent Koscielny.

Ozil was forced to miss the impressive 5-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage last weekend after suffering a back spasm in the lead-up to the game but the German playmaker has now returned to full training and will therefore be available for selection against Leicester City after the international break.

In a double boost, the club have also confirmed that Maitland-Niles is back in full training after making a swift recovery from a fractured leg that he suffered during our defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend of the new season.

Welbeck was forced to withdraw from the recent England squad due to a minor hamstring problem and the forward will now need to be assessed over the coming week before his availability against Leicester on the 22nd is determined.

Cech will also be checked ahead of the Leicester game later this month as the goalkeeper continues to recover from a hamstring injury that he sustained during the win over Watford at the end of September.

Koscielny is yet to feature this season as he’s still working his way back to fitness following a serious Achilles injury and the centre-back is due to resume full training in November while fellow centre-back Mavropanos is expected back at the end of this month as he looks to overcome a groin problem.

Now returned to full training following a small fracture to left fibula in August.

Danny Welbeck
Withdrawn from England squad with minor hamstring issue. Being assessed ahead of Leicester City (h) on Monday, October 22.

Petr Cech
Left hamstring injury. Being assessed ahead of Leicester City (h) on Monday, October 22.

Dinos Mavropanos
Groin injury. Expected to return to full training by the end of October.

Laurent Koscielny
Right Achilles tendon repair. Aiming to return to full training in November.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Cech or Welbeck are passed fit to face Leicester but it’s a big boost to have Ozil available again. Let’s hope none of the Arsenal players pick up any injuries while away on international duty as we need to continue the excellent run we’ve been on over the past couple of months.
