“Big Injury” – Arsenal Boss Offers Update After 2 Stars Suffer Injuries vs Man Utd

Unai Emery has offered an update after Rob Holding and Aaron Ramsey suffered injuries during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Holding once again started in Arsenal’s back three alongside Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi last night but the young centre-back required treatment after suffering a knee injury following a challenge from Marcus Rashford midway through the first half.
The 23-year-old left the field on a stretcher with his knee in a brace as he was replaced by Stephan Lichtsteiner in the 26th minute and Emery says the initial feeling among the medical team is that Holding has suffered a ‘big injury’.
Ramsey was recalled to the starting eleven against United as he replaced Henrikh Mkhitaryan in attack after impressing off the bench during Arsenal’s 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby last weekend.
The Welsh international picked up an ankle injury at Old Trafford and was replaced by Mkhitaryan at the half-time interval but Emery is more positive on his condition as he feels the midfielder has only suffered a ‘small injury’.
Emery told Arsenal.com:
on Rob Holding and Aaron Ramsey…
The worst for us today was the news with Rob Holding. We are going to wait for what the doctor tells us but it is maybe a big injury. We are going to wait, it is his knee. The other is Aaron Ramsey, but it is a small injury with him. After the two injuries, every player played with good commitment and mentality to keep the performance [going] in a difficult moment and we could not control the game like we want for the 90 minutes, but the second half gives us confidence for this draw.
Both players will no doubt be further assessed at London Colney today but it looks like Holding is facing an extended spell on the sidelines if it’s confirmed he suffered a serious knee injury against Man Utd last night.
It will be a huge blow for the youngster as he’s established himself in the Arsenal first team this season and has really improved under Emery so the Gunners will hope for good news once further tests have been conducted.
