Arsenal team news: Gunners confirm double injury boost ahead of Tottenham trip

Arsenal have confirmed a double injury boost ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime trip to Wembley to take on Tottenham in the North London Derby

Arsenal will be looking to cement their position in the top four with a positive result over Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime.

Ahead of the game, the Gunners have issued a full team news and injury update on their official website with the latest on the fitness of Laurent Koscielny, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck.

Arsenal confirmed a huge boost with the news that Koscielny is back in full training after suffering a kick to his right knee during their 5-1 victory over Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

The Frenchman had to limp through the final minutes of the game as Unai Emery had used all of his substitutions and there were fears he’d be ruled out of the North London Derby. However, the injury isn’t serious and Koscielny is now available for the trip to Tottenham tomorrow.

Arsenal have been handed a double boost as Lichtsteiner could return to the squad this weekend after missing the win over Bournemouth with a back injury that he sustained against Southampton last weekend.

Carl Jenkinson deputised at right-back in midweek while Ainsley Maitland-Niles is also available after recovering from illness so with Lichtsteiner now fully fit again, Emery has options down the right despite the absence of Bellerin.

The Spaniard is still working his way back from a serious knee injury and remains on the sidelines along with fellow long-term absentees Welbeck and Holding – who won’t play again this season.

The update on Arsenal.com said:

Laurent Koscielny
In full training. (Knock to right knee during Bournemouth (h)).

Stephan Lichtsteiner
In full training. (From minor back issue).

Hector Bellerin
Left knee. Recovering after surgery.

Rob Holding
Left knee. Recovering after surgery.

Danny Welbeck
Right ankle. Recovering after surgery.

Arsenal head to Wembley sitting one point clear of fifth-placed Manchester United so they’ll be looking to at least maintain that advantage but they can also close the gap on Tottenham to just a point with a win tomorrow afternoon.
