Tottenham team news update: Spurs could be without 4 key men for Arsenal clash
Tottenham have issued a team news update and could be without four key players for tomorrow’s huge Premier League clash with Arsenal.
Tottenham will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they take on Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime.
Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s offered an update on the fitness of Harry Winks, Jan Vertonghen, Dele Alli and Eric Dier.
The Spurs boss confirmed that while Alli is in the final stages of his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury that’s kept him out for several weeks, the attacking midfielder remains unavailable for selection this weekend.
Tottenham will also still be without the services of Dier against Arsenal as the England international is working on his fitness after suffering a bout of tonsillitis shortly after making a recovery from appendicitis, so it’s been a frustrating time for the midfielder.
Pochettino revealed that Winks is a doubt for the visit of Arsenal as the midfielder will need to be assessed at training after picking up a minor hip injury during the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea in midweek.
Vertonghen missed the trip to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night due to his own hip problem and the Belgian international remains a doubt for the North London Derby this weekend.
Pochettino refused to be drawn on whether Winks or Vertonghen would be available tomorrow as the Tottenham boss insisted the duo would need to be assessed at training this afternoon before their availability is determined.

Poch said Alli and Dier are out tomorrow and on Winks/Vertonghen fitness added: "I don't know. Now we are going to train in the afternoon and we'll see. I cannot say 50/50 or a percentage. We need to see."

Tottenham will be praying Winks is passed fit as with Dier and Alli certainly out, Pochettino has limited options in the middle of the park. Vertonghen would also be a huge miss if he’s ruled out again but Spurs do have the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez to call upon at centre-back.
Spurs head in to the weekend action off the back of consecutive defeats to Burnley and Chelsea that’s left them just four points clear of fourth-placed Arsenal so Pochettino will be desperate to get back to winning ways tomorrow.
