Tottenham handed huge fitness boost ahead of Champions League final vs Liverpool
Tottenham have been handed a huge fitness boost as Harry Kane is expected to fly to Madrid and play a part in the Champions League final vs Liverpool
Tottenham have been handed a huge fitness boost as Harry Kane is expected to fly to Madrid on Wednesday and play a part in the Champions League final against Liverpool, according to the Daily Mail.
Kane has been in a race against time to get himself fit for the final after suffering ankle ligament damage during Tottenham’s quarter-final first leg win over Manchester City towards the start of April.
The England international has been making good progress with his rehabilitation over the past few weeks and Kane was able to return to full training with the rest of the Spurs squad last week.
The Daily Mail claim the 25-year-old is now winning his fight to be available to face Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Saturday evening with Kane expected to fly to Madrid with his team mates on Wednesday.
The newspaper suggests that as long as the striker doesn’t suffer any setback over the coming days, Kane will be available to play some part in the Champions League final against Liverpool this weekend.
Mauricio Pochettino will give his talisman every opportunity to prove his fitness and isn’t expected to make a final decision over his involvement until later this week once he’s had a chance to fully assess his fitness.
So it remains to be seen whether Kane will be trusted from the start or if he’ll be used as an impact substitute but just having their top scorer in the squad would be a major boost for Tottenham.
There is also positive news for Spurs on Jan Vertonghen as the defender is set to return after missing the draw with Everton on the final day of the Premier League season with an ankle injury.
Harry Winks is also expected to travel to Madrid later this week after returning to full training following a niggling groin injury while Davinson Sanchez could also be available for selection after overcoming a thigh problem.
Dele Alli and Danny Rose are also expected to overcome minor issues to be in contention so Tottenham could have a fully fit squad to choose from against Liverpool as they prepare for arguably the biggest game in their modern history.
