Arsenal in advanced talks to sign 25-year-old star, player says offer has been made

Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira claims Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Yannick Carrasco and the Belgian winger says he has an offer on the table from an unnamed club.

Unai Emery is looking to revamp his squad this summer following a disappointing season and the Gunners boss needs to add some genuine width to his ranks as we sorely missed a natural winger at times last year.

Carrasco has emerged as a potential target once again and it looks like Arsenal have renewed their interest after being strongly linked with a move for the Belgian international back in January.

The 25-year-old is reportedly keen to leave Super League side Dalian Yifang after struggling to settle in China following his shock move from Atletico Madrid in February 2018 but we couldn’t meet his asking price during in the winter window.

Emery now has funds to spend and Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira claims Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Carrasco in a deal that could be worth around £26.5m [€30m] if Dalian Yifang haven’t changed their valuation from January.

The news comes after Carrasco told Belgian media this week that he has an offer on the table and negotiations with his agent are progressing well as he looks to seal a move back to Europe. The winger claims that the club he is in talks with are prepared to meet Dalian Yifang’s terms so he hopes the chairman will grant him his wish to leave this summer.

Carrasco told Nieuwsblad:

“There is now an offer on the table and the negotiations with my agent are progressing well.”

“The club that wants me has the maximum for that. They accept the basic conditions that Dalian Yifang sets ”

“I am the most important player in the club, but I hope the chairman understands me.”

Interesting, the Belgian outlet suggests the club in question is Arsenal so it looks like we could be closing in on a deal to sign Carrasco and I think he could turn out to be a shrewd piece of business.

He was a huge talent during his time at Monaco and Atletico Madrid and the fact he can play on either wing or through the middle would make him a very useful addition to Emery’s squad if we could lure him to the Emirates.
