Evra Signs New Contract
United left-back Patrice Evra has signed a new contract to keep him at Old Trafford until 2014. The Frenchman has won three Premier League titles, a Champions League and three League Cups since joining from Monaco in 2006.
The 29 year old has established himself as one of the best full backs in the world since signing for United and is delighted to have signed on for another 3 years. Upon signing his new deal Evra has stated his main intention is adding to his already impressive medal collection.
“Ever since I arrived at United, it’s been a dream come true playing here,” he said.
“The fans, the players, the manager and the staff all work hard to make this club the best in the world.
“I have won a lot in the last five years, but I want to win more and I know that’s the mentality of everyone here.”
Sir Alex Ferguson was understandably delighted to secure Evra’s services for the next three years as the Frenchman is now an integral part of Fergie’s starting XI.
“Patrice is unquestionably one of the world’s best left-backs,” said the Scot.
“He has developed into a key character in the dressing room and it is great that he has committed himself to the club.
“His experience and skill will be increasingly important to us.”
Evra signing a new contract is a welcome boost to the club and will hopefully lift the player in the same way it has lifted Nemanja Vidic since he sorted out his future.
