Man Utd team news update: Solskjaer confirms triple blow ahead of West Ham trip
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed a triple injury blow ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with West Ham this weekend.
Manchester United will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce when they take on West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed a triple blow with the news that Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw all remain on the sidelines for the trip to the capital this weekend.
Pogba has been on the sidelines since suffering an ankle injury during United’s 1-1 draw with Southampton three weeks ago and the French international is still not able to resume full training so isn’t expected to be available on Sunday.
Martial hasn’t featured for Man Utd since picking up a thigh injury during the 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace almost a month ago and Solskjaer says the attacker is also set to miss out against West Ham having failed to return to training.
In a further blow, the United boss has revealed Shaw is certain to miss out once again this weekend as the full-back is still recovering from a hamstring injury that he sustained against Palace in late August.
Manchester United could be without a fourth first team player as Daniel James is a major doubt for the West Ham game having missed training and the Champions League win over Astana due to a knock. The young winger will be assessed at Carrington before a decision is made over his availability.
Speaking after the 1-0 win over Astana last night, Solskjaer is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News:
“Not really, no,” Solskjaer said when asked if Pogba and Martial would be fit. “They’ve not been training yet so I don’t think so. [Luke] won’t be ready.
“Daniel James? I don’t know. He’s not trained the last few days. Hopefully, but not sure. We’ll have a recovery day with everyone tomorrow and we’ll see on Saturday.”
Man Utd head to London on Sunday off the back of consecutive 1-0 wins over Leicester and Astana so Solskjaer will be hoping to make it three wins on the bounce with victory over West Ham.
