Manchester United will be looking to take control of Group L in the Europa League with a win over Partizan Belgrade on Thursday evening.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had plenty of injury concerns to contend with in recent weeks and the United boss was once again without a number of first team players as the squad flew out of Manchester Airport this afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s game.
Luke Shaw is once again ruled out as he continues to overcome a niggling hamstring injury that’s hampered him all season while Axel Tuanzebe hasn’t made the trip to Serbia after picking up a hip problem in the warm-up ahead of Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
Paul Pogba is also still unavailable for selection as the midfielder works his way back to fitness from an ankle injury and Solskjaer’s options in the middle of the park are further reduced as Nemanja Matic remains out with a knock which kept him out of action at the weekend.
Diogo Dalot has been added to the treatment list after suffering a groin injury on Sunday afternoon so he’ll miss United’s trip to Belgrade along with long-term absentees Eric Bailly and Tim Fosu-Mensah.
David De Gea started against Liverpool after making a swift recovery from a groin injury which he picked while away on international duty but the Spaniard didn’t train today and hasn’t been included in the travelling squad so it looks like he’s being rested along with Ashley Young.
However, there is some positive news for Manchester United as Jesse Lingard is back in the squad after recovering from a thigh injury while Anthony Martial and Phil Jones are available after making their returns from injury at the weekend.
With so many injuries to contend with, United youngsters Ethan Laird, Brandon Williams and James Garner have all been included in the travelling squad along with Mason Greenwood but Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong miss out.
The youngsters could all feature against Belgrade if Solskjaer rests some of his key men ahead of Sunday’s trip to Norwich. Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford have travelled to Serbia but are likely to be named on the bench tomorrow evening.
Here is the 20-man Manchester United travelling squad as confirmed on ManUtd.com:
Goalkeepers: Romero, Grant, Kovar.
Defenders: Maguire, Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka, Rojo, Williams, Jones, Laird.
Midfielders: James, McTominay, Pereira, Mata, Lingard, Fred, Garner.
Forwards: Martial, Rashford, Greenwood.
