[VIDEO GOALS] Rodriguez Scores, Suarez Shines: Liverpool 5-0 Birmingham City
It was Rodriguez’s day to remember as he recorded his first ever hat-trick for Liverpool but will that keep him at Anfield beyond the summer?
It was a case of the misfiring Liverpool players getting time to shine and proving themselves, with Rodriguez and Joe Cole both making good accounts for themselves against Birmingham City.
Rodriguez opened the scoring early on after he made the most after a parry by Birmingham goalie Ben Foster.
Dirk Kuyt then put Liverpool 2 up as he took a rebound off the back of a great run by Suarez and then a great save by Foster to take two shots to bundle the ball into the back of the net.
Maxi then grabbed his second goal on the 66 minute mark after a sublime cross from Luis Suarez and a superb run by Kuyt drawing Stephen Carr the opposite direction. Then, the Argentinian wrapped up his treble by taking a shot from outside the box after some good work by Suarez and then he took the rebound and made a composed finish.
Joe Cole (do you remember him?), then provided several feints and fakes before taking a shot which deflected off a Birmingham defender and past the keeper for 5-0.
Two Liverpool Fans Man of The Match
Luis Suarez
Yes, he didn’t grab a goal for Liverpool yesterday, but he certainly poised a danger throughout the whole 90 minutes at Anfield. He absolutely destroyed the ball park and made many flicks and tricks as time wore on. Played a part in 3 goals for Liverpool and was the driving force behind Liverpool’s attacking threat.
