Man Utd General News
Man Utd are in the Final – now BELIEVE!
Man Utd completed their route to the final with what turned out to be an easy and enjoyable 4-1 win at home to Schalke.Already thoughts have turned to Wembley and the oposition who stand in our way of our 4th European Title – Barcelona.
Barcelona have been described by many as one of the best teams ever in club football and there is no disputing the fact that they are that good! They destroy and hassle, destroy when they have the ball and hassle when they don’t!
But that will not stop Manchester United players, manager and fans from believing that we can still win the Champions League.
There are a few doubters amongst our own support already and yeah why wouldn’t there be but with our place in a final of Europe secure for the 3rd time in 4 years we have every right to be confident ahead of the tie.For years we went through a run where we could only reach the quarter or semi finals year after year, but we have now stepped up a level and are getting into the final consistently. Maybe it is only a matter of time before we start winning the trophy consistently!
Anything can happen in football. That’s the beauty of it! Otherwise we would have given up hope of winning the league in 1993 when losing 1-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday before Steve Bruce headed 2 in, we would have thrown out the telly when Juventus went 2-0 up in the 1999 European Semi Final and we would have cried before John Terry stepped up to make that penalty kick in 2008!The list is endless of great United comebacks, not only in games but in seasons too.
The point I’m trying to make is that with football and everything else in life there is always hope. And with the current Utd squad we have a team, not just a group of individuals, who never know when they are beat and who will give all they can to win the European Cup.
Other things working in our favour are:
1) we are the underdogs, the pressure is on Barcelona as favourites to win it.
2) Sir Alex has definitely learnt something from the 2009 final against Barcelona and his tactics will surely be more astute than ever.
3) It’s in Wembeley which means it’s practically a home game and the same place where we won our first European Cup.
4) It is Edwin Van Der Sar’s (and possibly Paul Scholes’) last game for the club and losing your last ever game is not an option!
5) We ALWAYS BELIEVE!
I personally cannot wait for the game now, and I honestly believe we have a better chance than we did 2 years ago.
But first we need to get that 19th Premiership title in the bag starting with Chelsea on Sunday.
And to any United fans that don’t think we can win it, do yourself a favour and don’t bother watching it so!
Would you prefer the 19th Premiership Title or a 4th European Cup?
