Predictions & Team News For Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs & Man Utd
It’s the weekend again and we’ve got previews and predicted scores for Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Spurs.
Blackburn Rovers vs Manchester United
In this weekend’s first fixture, it is the tie that will probably ensure that Chelsea won’t even mathematically have a shot at winning the EPL this season. Manchester United are looking to seal the deal at Ewood Park.
Blackburn have 3 key players returning from injury, with them being Phil Jones, Salgado and Dunn. Nelsen and Grella will not play a part and Rochina is a doubt.
On Manchester United’s side, the only notable piece of news is that Edwin Van der Sar is set to be rested this weekend, Fletcher is set to be introduced to the game from the bench at some point.
Prediction: Blackburn 0-2 Manchester United
Chelsea vs Newcastle United
I guess it’s just for pride, the last fixture for the season at the Bridge, as Chelsea can only look to ensure that they keep second spot for this season. Newcastle on the other hand are looking for points to bring them up to the top half of the table, being 11th as of now.
Team News
Fernando Torres should start the game on Sunday, Ancelotti confirmed as he missed last week’s crucial game against Manchester United. Bosingwa will be the only notable absentee, being out for the two remaining games of the season.
Newcastle have Nolan and Harper out for this game and Tiote is set to sit this match out as Padrew doesn’t want him to miss the start of next season through suspension.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle United
Arsenal vs Aston Villa
Arsenal will be aiming to end the season on a high, having had a disastrous title run-in. They are still trying to get 2nd place, although the priority is to stay in 3rd and in the automatic CL spot. Aston Villa are pretty much safe from the drop but will want to win after 3 winless games.
Team News
Thomas Vermaelen is set to return for the Gunners after 9 months on the sidelines, Fabregas and Nasri are set to undergo last minute fitness tests and Diaby and Rosicky are out.
Aston Villa will miss Ciaran Clark after his hamstring problems have hampered his hopes to play in this game, but Makoun will be back for this game, having missed two 2 games due to a dead leg.
Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Aston Villa
Liverpool FC vs Tottenham Hotspur
In the match that will pretty much decide who goes to the Europa League this season, both teams will certainly be hungry to win this game. Both have contrasting feeling coming into the game as Liverpool will enter on a high having won their last 3 on the trot whilst Tottenham have just lost against Manchester City.
Team News
Andy Carroll could return to the squad following a knee injury that was sustained at Arsenal and Meireles could play a part although he was forced off against Fulham in mid-week. He has trained with the squad this week.
Gallas will miss the two remaining games thanks to a calf injury. Gareth Bale (ankle), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (hamstring), Heurelho Gomes (back) and Jermaine Jenas (thigh) are definitely out of this encounter.
Prediction: Liverpool FC 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur
