Chelsea Could Snare David Villa As Barca Seek Fabregas Funds
Barcelona are prepared to sell David Villa this summer in order to raise funds for transfer targets.
The Sunday Mirror suggests the Catalans will offer Villa to Manchester City and Chelsea for a fee around £40million. The La Liga champions have accepted they will need to sell their star striker in order to fund a triple swoop this summer.
Barca have been linked with moves for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, Villarreal hotshot Giuseppe Rossi and Udinese star Alexis Sanchez.
Each player will cost in the region of £28-35million as Barcelona set to go about improving their squad which has already been dubbed the best team of all time. Barca boss Pep Guardiola has accepted he will have to sell his World Cup winning striker, a source close to the Catalans said:
“Guardiola has a list of players he is prepared to move on to give him more spending power in the transfer market, but Villa is definitely not on that list.
“Ideally, he wants to keep Villa – especially after the impact he made in his first campaign with Barca. He sees David as a big player as his side push for more trophies next season.
“But he also knows that he may have to sacrifice Villa to finance incoming deals. And Manchester City and Chelsea would be very happy to buy Villa.”
