Ace Reveals Arsenal’s Tactics For Next Season
The Russian winger had a disappointing season last year and is looking to rediscover the form that saw Arsenal part with a club record fee.
Russian winger Andrey Arshavin has revealed where Arsenal are looking to improve next season.
Arshavin has revealed that Arsenal will look to work on set pieces, both attacking and defending, as well as implementing a pressing game to their strategy.
The diminutive playmaker had a disappointing season last year and is looking to rediscover the form that saw Arsenal part with a club record fee for his services. The 30-year old is looking to improve on the 10 goals he scored last season and has set himself the target of 15 goals.
“I think we will get stronger and stronger,” he told the Official Matchday Programme.
“In particular I think our work on set pieces, both attacking and defending, will be better. We’ll also play a pressing game – if we do that well, I’m sure you’ll see an improved team.
“My own target is simple – I would like to score 15 goals in total.”
And Arshavin is looking forward to Arsenal’s annual Emirates Cup which takes place this weekend involving Boca Juniors, Paris Saint-Germain and New York Red Bulls.
“I always enjoy this tournament and hopefully we’ll show plenty of good things, but to be honest it’s not vital to win it,” he added.
“We’ve done that twice since I’ve been here and didn’t win any trophies the following season, so I’d happily swap.”
