REPORTS: Gunners Failed With £35m Deadline Day Bid
Arsenal saw a club record £35m bid for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze turned down on deadline day, according to reports.
Several media outlets claim Arsenal tabled the huge offer for the German wonderkid on Wednesday morning, but it was flatly rejected by Dortmund. The German outfit are relying on the gifted winger this coming season especially after the club sold Nuri Sahin to Real Madrid earlier on this summer.
Manchester United and Real Madrid have registered their interest with the German champs this summer with Europe’s elite all keen on the 19-year old.
Gotze already boasts 7 international caps to his name and has been tipped for a bright future for club and country. Despite his age the promising playmaker already has a Bundesliga medal to his name.
Arsenal turned their attention to Everton’s Mikel Arteta and Chelsea’s Yossi Benayoun, with both joining the club before the close of the window at 11pm last night.
