Liverpool: Latest Transfer News
By Football Talk.
Another day and another round of transfer rumours for Liverpool fans to digest. After a disappointing season and uncertainty surrounding the ownership and management of the club, the Liverpool faithful could certainly do with some good news to cheer them up. Here are a couple of the latest transfer deals involving Liverpool.
Ever Banega
Valencia midfielder Ever Banega is closing in on a summer move to Anfield according to Goal.com. Rafa Benitez is set to raid his former club for the creative midfielder to fill the void left by Xabi Alonso after Alberto Aquilani’s fairly disappointing first season at the club.
Banega is thought to be keen on the move despite Liverpool not being able to offer Champions League football next season, and a four-year contract is on the table after the Red’s made an offer of £8.5m, which is apparently triggered his buy-out clause. After moving to Valencia 2 years ago, Banega endured a difficult start to life in Spain and was loaned out to Atletico Madrid. But was recalled to the team this season has been impressive alongside David Villa and David Silva as Valencia finished third in La Liga.
With Valencia’s crippling debt’s of over £500m, it seems likely they will be forced to sell of some of their prized assets making a move for Banega realistic.
Caner Erkin
Liverpool have been linked with a move for left-sided midfielder Caner Erkin. The 21-year old belongs to CSKA Moscow but spent last season on loan at Galatasaray with a view to a permanent deal. However negotiations are believed to have broken down between the two clubs alerting Liverpool, who hope to swoop in and steal the player from under the noses of the Turkish giants.
Despite uncertainty surrounding Liverpool financial situation, Erkin’s transfer wouldn’t break the bank as he would cost around £3m and with Albert Rieira’s Anfield career all but over it could be a case of one in one out on the left hand side of Liverpool’s midfield.
Roman Pavlyuchenko
Liverpool and Tottenham are lining up a swap deal involving Yossi Benayoun and Roman Pavlyuchenko, according to The Mail. Liverpool were linked with a move for Pavlyuchenko in January but a deal never materialized and the Russian went on to have a much better second half of the season with Spurs.
The report suggests Liverpool want to resurrect their interest and will include Benayoun as a make-weight in the deal. Benayoun had a decent season at Anfield scoring 9 goals in 42 appearances, and him plus £2m is thought to be enough to secure the transfer of Pavlyuchenko for Tottenham.
