Blackburn look set to benefit from Phil Jones’ elevation to the full England squad as part of the terms agreed when the defender joined Manchester United in the summer.
It has been revealed that Rovers will receive an additional £100,000 for each of Jones’ first 20 national team caps, and with the youngster settling in well within the National set-up, they should be receiving a bumper pay-out soon.
The initial transfer fee that saw Jones move to Old Trafford was in the region of £16.5 million, but the fee has the potential to rise to over £20 million after add-ons.
The Chorley-born player made his international debut on friday night against Montenegro, and Rovers fans will be hoping that it will be the first of many as the Lancashire club finds itself in the relegation zone after a poor start to the season.
