Liverpool vs Manchester United: 4 Key Battles To Look Out For
Liverpool host Manchester United in the Premier League this coming weekend and here are the key battles to look out for.
Luis Suarez vs Rio Ferdinand
Rio Ferdinand will not be a stranger to watching Liverpool strikers tormenting the Manchester United defence. He saw it when Torres terrorized Vidic (on numerous occasions) and he’s even witnessed Suarez do the damage, with the Uruguayan performing sensationally on his first derby just a few months back. It will be interesting to see how the striker copes this time round, as he has had a really good start to the new season.
Ashley Young vs Liverpool’s Rightback
No argument: Ashley Young has had a brilliant start to his Manchester United career. He has fit right into the squad and made himself a regular in the First XI, so it will be interesting to see how the Liverpool rightback, whoever that may be, copes against the English International.
Liverpool FC have Martin Kelly doubtful for this clash with him sustaining a groin injury whilst Glen Johnson is also a doubt, with him just only returning from yet another one of his hamstring injuries. Martin Skrtel had a torrid time against Spurs a few weeks ago, so that will probably not be what Kenny Dalglish will opt for.
Wayne Rooney vs Jamie Carragher
The Liverpool backline have had a somewhat shake start to the 2011/12 season, so it will be a test as to whether they can keep Wayne Rooney quiet. Whether it be from the deadball or from open play, the Englishman is deadly on his day.
Carragher must be careful not to give away too many fouls on the edge of the box, as going up against a team with plenty to offer from the dead ball, it could be catastrophic.
King Kenny vs Sir Alex Ferguson
Talk about rivalry. This one goes back heaps long. It started it the 60s and it’s going all the way to 2011. These two have been on opposing ends ever since they started their playing careers.
The two will try and outwit each other with their tactics come the encounter this weekend, and you would bet that the one coming out on top will come out with a HUGE smile on the face during that post-game conference.
