Villas-Boas: We Won’t Be Selling Arsenal & Tottenham Targets In January
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out selling star strikers Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba in the January transfer window.
Strikers Drogba, 33 and Anelka, 32, as well as Salomon Kalou, 26 and right-back Jose Bosingwa, 29, are in the final year of their Chelsea contracts with rumours linking all four players with a move away from Stamford Bridge in January. Drogba and Kalou have both been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham in recent weeks, while Anelka has been heavily linked with a move to Russia.
But AVB insists he is under no pressure from Blues owner Roman Abramovich to cash in on the £30million quartet while he still can. Villas-Boas said:
“We won’t need to sell these players. Apart from Anelka, we have offered them contracts and talks are on-going, “Even if we get to January with no agreements, their loyalty will not be questioned. We’ll try to reach an agreement but the important thing is for the team to defend its interests on the pitch.”
