Xavi on Fabregas: “I’d love him to join us”
By Ross Mackiewicz.
Barcelona’s Xavi Hernandez has admitted how he would love to play alongside his friend and compatriot Cesc Fabregas at the Camp Nou.
The Arsenal captain began his career as a trainee at the Spanish champions thirteen years ago where he learnt his trade alongside ‘world footballer of the year’ Lionel Messi as well as the likes of Andres Iniesta, Victor Valdes and Gerard Pique before moving to North London in 2003.
Question marks over Fabregas’s future at the Emirates have been raised over the past few seasons due to the Gunners lack of silverware. The 23 year old added more fuel to the fire of a possible Arsenal departure after admitting to journalists on Thursday his aspiration to one day return to his boyhood club.
The midfield maestro is currently nursing an injury to his leg as he faces a race against time to be fit for this summer’s World Cup where he will line up with Xavi in the Spanish squad in South Africa.
More reports over The Gunners playmakers future only looks set to intensify, but Xavi hopes he can be lured back to Catalonia.
“Yes, I’d love for him to join us.” Xavi told The Sun newspaper.
“He’s a very close friend of mine and a footballer with Barcelona’s DNA.”
Where do you think Cesc’s future lies? North London or Spain? Let us know.
