Liverpool Can’t Afford Spanish Star
By Football Talk.
Liverpool have been linked with a summer move for Sevilla winger Jesus Navas, according to Spanish daily AS, but the major stumbling bloke for any transfer is likely to be price.
Navas, 24, has been in outstanding form this season for Sevilla and will be part of Spain’s World Cup squad this summer. Liverpool are reportedly keen on adding the exciting winger to their squad as they look to bolster their attacking options on the flanks for next season.
However, the Reds are likely to miss out on the player for a number of reasons. The main problem will be that Liverpool are only willing to pay around £15m for Navas, which is well short of the £50m buyout clause in his contract. Liverpool will also be unable to offer Champions League football next season, something that his current club secured at the weekend.
Another major hurdle is that Navas suffers from anxiety attacks when he spends long periods away from home. Although these problems have subsided somewhat recently, he may still be reluctant to make a move to Liverpool.
Wouls Liverpool fans like to see Navas at Anfield next season? Is he a realistic target?
