Wenger Slams Van Persie Accusations
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hit back at claims the club rely solely on Robin van Persie and feels his striker is just benefiting from good team play.
The Gunners skipper came off the bench to inspire victory over Stoke City on Sunday by bagging a brace, taking is tally to 25 goals in his last 26 games for Arsenal. This has lead many to believe that Wenger’s men are over-reliant on the Dutchman, something the Frenchman denies:
“I don’t have that feeling at all. When you want to be a team with quality you always have a player who stands out and who gets on the end of things,” Wenger told arsenal.com.
“We had Thierry Henry before. Robin has exceptional quality and so you get these questions.”
