Wenger Finally Looking To Use Arshavin In His Best Position
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was pleased with Andrey Arshavin’s Cup performance in victory over Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday and has hinted he will use him in a more central position from now on.
Wenger believes the forward is more comfortable in the centre behind a striker, a position Arshavin has always played in before his time at the Emirates, and the Arsenal boss is ready to unleash the Russian in his favoured role.
“I believe that he is more at ease now in a more central role because if he is on the flanks it is very physical and you have to defend a lot,” the manager told Arsenal Player. “That’s not always his strongest part in the game.
“You can see that in the future he can be a very influential player behind the striker.”
Arshavin has been predominately used out wide for the Gunners, but has recently suffered criticism from the Arsenal faithful after his recent performances were below the expected level.
