Van Persie Praises Arsenal Character
Arsenal captain Robin van Persie was absolutely delighted with the character his side showed in yesterday’s stunning victory over Chelsea.
Despite going behind twice during the game, the Gunners came back to win 5-3, with the Dutch magician scoring a hat trick. After the game he praised his teams character while also admitting he was surprised when Chelsea captain John Terry slipped to let him in to score Arsenal’s fourth.
“You could see how happy we are at the end because we fought hard and every one of us showed character,” van Persie said on Sky Sports 2.
“It’s a big, big win for us today. I was surprised (when Terry slipped) because it was an easy backpass and I only saw later that he slipped because I was closing him down,” he added.
“I suddenly realised I was one on one with (Petr) Cech and a couple of things came to my mind to do, but I did the easiest one.”
