A penalty from Charlie Adam and an Andy Carroll strike secured a comfortable win for the mersysiders. All the clean sheets have come away from home and with the same scoreline 2-0. Here is how Liverpool players performed yesterday evening.
Reina: 6 – Must be thinking that he was one of the spectators as virtually he had nothing to do but to see his side attack or the defense clear the lines. Should be happy with the clean sheet and would want more games like this to sit back and enjoy.
Johnson: 7 – The defender/winger was good in attack supporting Jordan Henderson on the right and adding to that he performed his defensive duties well.
Enrique: 8 – Started the match with a pinpoint pass which sent Suarez through down the middle and continued to shine. His link up play with downing was a major threat as he continued to trouble opponent’s defense
Agger: 7 – Stepped up to the mark with Jamie Carragher not being present and did well against Tchoyi who looked a threat in the second-half.
Skrtel: 7 – He also made sure that Carra is not missed and also made certain that Reina did not have much to do on the night and controlled Odemwinge throughout.
Henderson: 6.5 – Made it hard for West Brom to get near the Liverpool goal. Didn’t show much of an attacking threat but didn’t really need to with Suarez creating havoc in West Brom’s defense.
Downing: 6 – The winger needs to improve, he is supposed to provide crosses for Carroll but did not do that enough last night, although linked up well with Enrique but the left back posed much more of a threat in attack than him.
Lucas: 7 – His wonder ball to Suarez created the opportunity for the Uruguayan to set up Carroll’s goal. Returned after suspension and was solid with his tackling and passing.
Adam: 7.5 – Scored Liverpool’s first penalty goal of the season as Suarez and Kuyt have missed before. Came up with some wonder through balls and was always comfortable in possession.
Suarez: 9 – The guy is a genius. He did not score, he doesnt need to, at times he just doesn’t need the ball, his presence and movement is a menace for the opposition. Yet again the man of the match and deserved a goal. Nonetheless was involved in both the goals.
Carroll: 7.5 – Almost messed up his one-v-one opportunity but made amends and finished well to score his second league goal of the season. Looked more lively and for the first time he linked really well with Luis Suarez. Tried too many shots as he was always confident of adding another goal to his tally.
Subs:
Craig Bellamy: 6 – Kenny Dalglish only utilized one substitute, perhaps that was to rest Luis Suarez who recovered from his injury during the weekend. Had only 10 minutes so didn’t have a lot of time to get involved.
