TRANSFER NEWS: Race Heats Up For £15m Golden Boy
Premier League quartet Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham are all chasing FC Basel winger Xherdan Shaqiri, but will have to pay £15m for his services.
Premier League quartet Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham are among the clubs chasing FC Basel winger Xherdan Shaqiri, but will now have to pay in excess of £15m for his services.
Having broken on to the scene at the age of 18, Shaqiri has become one of the hottest properties in Europe after a string of impressive displays during his 78 appearances for Basel. The winger was linked with a £7m move in the summer, with Arsenal and Tottenham among the teams leading the race for his signature at that time.
Shaqiri’s form this year has seen the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd, as well as clubs from Germany and Turkey, join the hunt for the exciting 20-year-old and interested parties were expected to step up their interest in the January transfer window.
However, Shaqiri put in another superb performance during Basel’s shock 2-1 win over Man Utd last night, culminating in the Swiss team progressing to the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time.
Due to their continued participation in Europe, it’s now being reported that Basel will demand a fee in excess of £15m for their star man.
