Eduardo Vargas has snubbed interest from the Premier League after confirming he will be joining Napoli in January.
The Chilean international striker has been heavily linked with a move to England, with Chelsea leading the chase along with Arsenal and Liverpool.
However, the 22-year-old has chosen to continue his career in Italy and will move from Universidad de Chile to Napoli for a fee in the region of £12m next month. Vargas confirmed the news when speaking to Radio Cooperativa:
‘Yes I will be joining Napoli, a large team in Italy,’ Vargas told Radio Cooperativa.
‘I’m sure I’ll do very well there. I know Cavani and Lavezzi.
‘I am very happy that everything was tied up quickly, and for me to play in Italy is a dream come true.’
Carlos Heller, shareholder at Universidad de Chile, also confirmed the deal:
‘It was very late last night when an agreement was made, but we are proud to reach it with the former club of Diego Maradona in Italy,’ he said.
‘Eduardo joins a team with a great trophy cabinet. For him and the national team, it is outstanding.’
