Liverpool vs Arsenal: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Liverpool welcome fellow top-four hopefuls Arsenal to Anfield on Saturday. Here we bring you team news, likely line-ups and a predicted score for the big game
Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield on Saturday for a game which could have a huge impact on who finishes fourth this season.
The Gunners currently occupy the all-important fourth place on goal’s scored from Chelsea, with Liverpool back in seventh seven points behind the London pair, although they do have a game in hand.
Defeat would leave Kenny Dalglish’s men ten points adrift and with it all to do to secure Champions League football next season, but a win would put them right back in the mix.
Liverpool will be in buoyant mood following their Carling Cup win last weekend while Arsenal will also be buzzing after spanking their rivals Tottenham 5-2 in the North London Derby.
Team News
Steven Gerrard is a major injury doubt after being forced off in the first half of England’s 3-2 defeat to Holland on Wednesday with a groin strain.
Daniel Agger will definitely miss the game after being ruled out for at least two weeks with a broken rib, Jamie Carragher is in-line to replace him.
Glen Johnson should be fit after pulling out of the England squad as a precaution.
Arsene Wenger has flagged Robin van Persie as a doubt after the striker played 45 minutes against England despite carrying a minor groin injury. Wenger has also claimed Thomas Vermaelen is a doubt after he completed 90 minutes for Belgium against Greece despite the Gunners insisting he wasn’t fully fit.
Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out with an ankle injury while Thomas Rosicky is also a slight doubt, but Abou Diaby is available again after missing the whole season through injury.
Likely line-ups
Predicted Score
Both squads should be full of confidence heading into this game after their wins last weekend. However, the outcome of this match could be heavily influenced by the injury doubts. Any team would miss the talents of players like Gerrard and van Persie, so Dalglish and Wenger will do all they can to get their player on the pitch tomorrow.
I expect both to start and the game to end an entertaining draw. Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal
