Agent – Lukas Podolski Has Not Had Arsenal Medical
The agent of reported Arsenal target Lukas Podolski has denied reports the Cologne striker has already completed a medial ahead of a summer move to North London
The agent of Arsenal target Lukas Podolski has denied reports suggesting the striker has already completed a medial ahead of a summer move to North London, according to Goal.com.
The German ace has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks and the Daily Star were one of several newspapers to report that the 26-year-old had passed a medical last weekend, with Gunners officials said to be in Germany to finalise the deal.
However, Goal.com have today reported that the agent of Podolski, Kon Schramm, has denied any medical has taken place:
“He was at no medical, neither in London nor elsewhere.” Schramm is quoted as saying on Goal.com
Podolski’s contract with Cologne expires at the end of next season and it’s widely expected that he will move on in the summer and Arsenal remain the favourites to snap him up.
I was always sceptical of the ‘passed medical’ reports, as it’s highly unlikely a player would be undergoing any medical examinations in March ahead of a summer move. Agreeing a fee? Yes. Agreeing wages with the player? Yes. But doing the medical when there is at least 2 months of football left to play, and the possibility of the player picking up a serious injury? Unlikely.
I still remain confident that we’ll see Podolski in an Arsenal shirt next season, but the deal is probably nowhere near as close as some will have you believe.
