Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger Watches £5m Defender
The latest name to be linked with a move to the Emirates is Toulouse defender Aymen Abdennour, with Arsenal linked with a £5m summer move for the defender.
Morning Gooners. With the summer transfer window fast approaching, the speculation over who Arsene Wenger will bring in is mounting.
The latest name to be linked with a move to the Emirates is Toulouse defender Aymen Abdennour, with the Sun claiming we’ve been monitoring his progress for over 6 months and Wenger will make his move this summer.
The report states that scouts were present to watch the 22-year-old in action during a 1-0 win over Rennes on Sunday, and the Tunisian international will cost as little as £5m.
Abdennour is relatively unknown and a far cry from the marquee-type signing many fans are hoping for, but he was impressive at the recent African Cup of Nations. He is a beast of a player, standing at 6 ft 2 inches, and can play in a variety of positions, mainly left-back or centre-back, so would be a useful addition to the squad.
I would still prefer to see Jan Vertonghen arrive at Arsenal this summer, but Abdennour would be a very Wenger-like signing wouldn’t he? Unknown, plays in France and cheap!
