Inter: “The interest from Man Utd in Sneijder is real”
By Football Talk.
Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has confirmed that Manchester United want to sign Wesley Sneijder, with some reports suggesting the Red Devils have submitted a £29m offer for the Dutch ace.
Sneijder is enjoying a superb World Cup campaign with Holland, reaching the final where they will play Spain on Sunday, and is the joint top goal-scorer having netted 5 goals in 6 games. This comes off the back of a treble winning domestic season with Inter Milan. The playmaker joined the San Siro outfit from Real Madrid for just under £13m last summer and there is no doubt his stock has risen in the last 12 months.
Sir Alex Ferguson has previously said he will add one ‘top quality’ player to his squad and it seems he has set his sights on Sneijder being that man. United were linked with a move at the start of the week and Inter president confirmed the interest from Old Trafford.
“The interest from Manchester United in Sneijder is real, but I didn’t look into it in an attempt not to fall into temptation.
“I’m following him at the World Cup and I think I’ll do the same also at Inter for the next years. I still haven’t received a good enough offer for even one player to leave. We will see.”
Fresh reports today suggest United have in fact logged a £29m bid which would pose a tempting offer considering the £16m profit Inter would make. Sneijder’s signing would be a major coup for Fergie and no doubt add that creative flair some suggested United lacked last season.
