Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given us an injury update ahead of our game with Wigan on Monday.
The Gunners can move eight points clear of rivals Tottenham with a win on Monday, as Spurs will not be in Premier League action due to their FA Cup commitments.
Wenger revealed that there are no fresh injury concerns after Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Wolves, while Kieran Gibbs is only rated at 50:50 to return after missing the match at Molineux with a groin problem. Abou Diaby and Francis Coquelin will also miss the tie but both will be back in full training next week.
There is more positive news on the fitness of Gervinho, who is likely to face Wigan with Arsene giving him an 80% chance of taking part. Here is what Wenger told Arsenal.com today:
on any new injuries…
From the Wolves game, no. We have the usual bumps and bruises after a game of that intensity, but overall no I don’t think anybody has a problem.
on Gibbs…
There is a possibility for Gibbs [to play against Wigan]. It is 50:50 that he will be available again. He is improving day to day and has been practising but not with the team.
on Gervinho…
Gervinho is a strong possibility to face Wigan, he is 80:20.
on Diaby and Coquelin…
Diaby will not play against Wigan. He is alright though. Diaby and Coquelin will come back into the squad next week for full training.
