Liverpool News – Mascherano agent : Inter move would be “a dream”
By Ryan Kane.
Javier Mascherano’s agent Walter Tamer has this week fuelled further speculation linking the Argentine with a move to Inter Milan. Recent reports have linked Liverpool’s tenacious midfielder with a move to the San Siro, reuniting him with ex-Red’s boss Rafael Benitez. The 26-year olds agent has claimed that Mascherano would
“jump at the chance of a reunion (with Benitez) at Inter”.
His agent went on to reveal that Mascherano has not spoken to new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson since his appointment last week, nor has he spoke with the club itself. The tireless midfielder has won 61 caps for his country to date and was part of Argentina’s Olympic gold medal winning side in 2008. Tamer has stated that for Mascherano to be linked with Inter has a
“magical taste…it is a dream”
before announcing
“last season it was European champions Barcelona that wanted him and this year it’s Inter (Milan), the current Champions League winners”.
In July of last year, ex- Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez reportedly turned down a multi-million pound offer from Spanish Champions Barcelona for the Argentine.
Mascherano is under contact at Anfield until June 2012.Tamer admitted that this was a potential obstacle for the Nerazzurri in agreeing a deal for the sedulous midfielder. Inter will be expected to fork out in the region of £35 million the Argentine’s services. Mascherano has made 100 league appearances to date for Liverpool, who welcome Arsenal to Anfield on August 14th to kick off their 2010/11 Premier League campaign.
