BREAKING NEWS: Torres Ruptures Thigh Muscle
By Football Talk.
Scans have confirmed that Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has ruptured a muscle in his left thigh, according to the Spanish Football Federation. In a statement on it’s website the federation says Torres had a magnetic resonance scan on Tuesday at the Cemtro de Madrid Clinic and evidence was found of “a Grade 1 muscle fiber rupture in the left thigh.”
The injury means he is unlikely to be fit for the start of the new premier league season but the good news for Liverpool is that it is only a grade 1 rupture, which is the least severe. The injury occurred as Torres chased down a ball in the final stages of Spain’s World Cup Final victory over Holland on Sunday. The striker pulled up immediately and had to be stretchered off the field just minutes before the celebrations began.
