Wenger ‘Not Interested’ In Buying Yann M’Vila…..Yeah Right
Arsene Wenger has denied reports suggesting Arsenal are close to completing a deal for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila. But that doesn’t mean he still won’t sign!
Arsene Wenger has denied reports suggesting Arsenal are close to completing a deal for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, according to ESPN.
Many Gooners, like myself, were excited to read the reports in recent days claiming that a deal to bring the 21-year-old Frenchman to the Emirates was 99.9% done, and we were set to announce our second big-money signing after completing a deal for Lukas Podolski two weeks ago.
However, Wenger has poured cold water on those reports claiming he is not interested at this time and has not made contact with any club regarding buying any player. Quoted in ESPN, Wenger said today:
“It is not true. There is not any interest at the moment,” Wenger said. “We have not been in touch with anybody, we have not made any offer to anybody and we are nowhere near to buying anybody at the moment.
“We are focused on our final game of the season.”
Who didn’t expect this? Most Arsenal fans would not be surprised by Wenger’s denial. He never speaks about transfer targets until the deal is ready to be announced, but he certainly wouldn’t speak about potential recruits on the eve of the most important game of the season.
So don’t panic Gooners, Wenger’s denial doesn’t mean the deal either isn’t close or won’t go through. We’ve all been here before. I’m still confident M’Vila to be an Arsenal player within the coming weeks.
