Arsenal Given Deadline To Finalise Midfielder Deal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been told he has until the end of the week to decide whether to sign Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun on a permanent basis
Arsenal have been told they have until the end of the week to decide whether to sign Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun on a permanent basis, according to the Metro.
Benayoun joined the Gunners on loan last summer and has enjoyed a successful 12 months at the Emirates, scoring six goals in 25 appearances.
The 32-year-old was a key player in Arsenal’s late push to secure third place and automatic champions league qualification, as he started the last three games and scored two vital goals agains Norwich and West Brom.
Despite becoming something of a fan favourite at the Emirates, the Metro claim that Arsene Wenger is still undecided whether to make his move permanent. Chelsea have made it clear the Israeli can leave this summer and the report suggests a fee as low as £1m will be enough to land the versatile midfielder, and they have told Arsenal to make a final decision by the end of the week.
It’s understood that Benayoun would be keen to remain in North London but would demand a 2-year contract, something Wenger is unlikely to offer due to the players age, and Ajax, West Ham and Maccabi Haifa are all monitoring the players situation.
