Clint Dempsey – I Want A Bigger Challenge
Arsenal are in pole position to land Fulham’s 23-goal forward Clint Dempsey, after the player admitted he’s ready to take on a bigger challenge in his career
Clint Dempsey has issues a come and get me plea to the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool after admitting he’s ready to take on a bigger challenge.
The Fulham ace enjoyed a superb season last campaign scoring 23 goals in all competitions, and netted 17 goals to help the Cottagers finish in an impressive ninth place in the Premier League.
However, the American forward has just one year remaining on his current deal and he is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying he’s ready to tackle a ‘bigger challenge’ in his career, and playing in the champions league is a dream he wants to fulfil.
‘After every year I want to keep getting better, and I want to take on bigger challenges, and playing in the Champions League is something I want to do.
It was something I wanted a year ago but it didn’t work out that way. It’s something I still want.
There are things I want to do in my career. And I’m going to do what it takes to make those things happen.’ Dempsey is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
The Mail claim the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have been monitoring his situation but the 29-year-old has said until a club puts an offer on the table, there is little he can do.
‘I don’t get caught up in that [speculation] because until somebody is putting down some money it doesn’t matter.
‘If teams are really interested, they need to put their money with their mouth is and make an offer.’ Dempsey continued.
Dempsey’s wish to play champions league football would put Arsenal in pole position to sign him should the Gunners make their interest official. But if the North Londoners pull out of the race the USA international would also find it very difficult to turn down a move to Liverpool, despite the Merseysiders only able to offer Europa League football next term.
