Arsenal Linked With Marco Reus – Only One Problem….
Arsenal have been linked with a move for German star Marco Reus after Arsene Wenger confirmed his interest in the player. There is only one problem with that..
In what can only be described as the most ridiculous transfer news story of the summer so far, the Daily Mail have linked Arsenal with a move for German star Marco Reus.
The article came about after Gunners manager Arsene Wenger was asked by Bixente Lizarazu while working with French TV if he was “on the case” of Reus, to which Wenger replied “yes”.
So not one to miss an opportunity, the Daily Mail came up with the headline ‘Wenger confirms interest in Reus as Arsenal boss purrs over Germany forward‘ and claimed that the Gunners are somehow “closing in Reus” with Wenger apparently looking to strengthen his attack with the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder this summer.
Only one problem Daily Mail….Marco Reus agreed to join Borussia Dortmund for £14m in January! As confirmed by Sky Sports News , the 23-year-old agreed a five-year contract and was immediately loaned back to Borussia Monchengladbach for the rest of the season and will now link up with his new club this summer.
What’s worse is that the Mail even knew this as they point it out at the bottom of their article, but it didn’t stop them claiming Arsenal are “closing in” on him. It’s amazing that stories like this are signed off and allowed to be published.
So unless Dortmund are looking to turn a quick profit and sell Reus before he’s even kicked a ball for them, i wouldn’t be getting too excited about seeing him in an Arsenal shirt any time soon.
Nice one Daily Mail, you’ve really exceeded all expectations this time.
