Van Persie In London For Fresh Arsenal Talks
Unsettled Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will hold fresh talks over his Emirates future with manager Arsenal Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis this week
With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is set to hold fresh talks over his future.
Unsettled Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will hold fresh talks over his future with manager Arsenal Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis this week, according to the Mirror.
The report claims that van Persie is now back in London after returning from his holiday in the Caribbean at the weekend and will meet with the Gunners supremos in the coming days.
Wenger is keen to meet his captain on his own without interference from his agent Kees Vos. The Frenchman wants to see if the statement released last week accurately reflect his feelings and to establish whether he has any hope of persuading the 28-year-old to see out the final year of his contract.
Wenger and the Arsenal board are said to be fuming after Vos released a statement declaring RVP wont be signing a new contract without first consulting the club.
Manchester City and Juventus continue to lead the race to sign the Dutchman and are both expected to make their interest official this week.
Roberto Mancini is desperate to land Van Persie and it’s believed the Premier League champions will submit a bid of around £15m once they agree a deal to sell Emmanuel Adebayor to Tottenham.
Officials at the Etihad are confident they can get the 30-goal striker on the cheap and are determined not o pay over the odds for a player who is almost 29, has a poor injury record and has publicly confirmed he wont be signing a new contract at the Emirates.
This stance may play into the hands of Juventus, with the Italians keen to conclude a deal quickly and know the Gunners would prefer to sell abroad.
Manchester United, PSG and Real Madrid are all also monitoring the situation and could yet enter the bidding should the Dutchman become available this summer.
