Arsenal are looking to tie up a double swoop on Santi Cazorla and Nuri Sahin in the coming days, according to several reports.
The Guardian are just one of many news outlets who claim the Gunners have submitted a £16m bid for Malaga midfielder Santi Cazorla and are also confident of sealing a year long loan move for Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin.
Arsène Wenger has been after Cazorla for over a year but missed out last summer when Malaga signed him from Villarreal for €19m (£15m). The Frenchman is now keen to take advantage of Malaga’s financial woes, with relegation from La Liga a distinct possibility if they don’t pay off their mounting debts by the 31st July, and Wenger hopes a £16m offer will be enough to land the 27-year-old.
The Guardian claim that Cazorla has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners and they are hoping to tie up the deal early next week when the club returns home from their tour of Asia.
Wenger confident on Sahin
In more good news for Arsenal fans, the report also claims that Arsene Wenger is confident of landing Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin on loan.
Sahin moved to Real from Borussia Dortmund last summer but has failed to make an impact at the Bernabeu, and boss Jose Mourinho has told the 23-year-old to go on loan to get some game time under his belt.
Arsenal have been in discussions with the Spaniards and agreed a deal to take him on loan, but the player is not convinced a move away from Madrid is what’s best for him and he’s especially not happy with the fact Arsenal haven’t included an option to buy at the end of the year-long loan.
After being left out of the squad for Friday’s friendly defeat to Benfica, Sahin has now flown to the USA with the rest of the Madrid squad, which will make it more difficult for Arsenal to tie up the deal quickly, but the Guardian suggest Wenger is confident he can persuade the Turkish international to move to the Emirates and he wants both Cazorla and Sahin to be available for the Gunners friendly with Cologne on August 12th.
Real more Arsenal transfer news
If the Guardian, and other reports, are accurate and Arsenal can bring in both Cazorla and Sahin, it would prove to be superb business by Arsene Wenger. To add Podolski, Giroud, Sahin AND Cazorla to the squad would be almost unbelievable for Gooners and I for one would be extremely excited heading into next season. How’s that for ‘ambition’ Mr. Van Persie?
