With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Tottenham are reported to have bid for Yann M’Vila.
Tottenham Hotspur could be set to beat rivals Arsenal to the signing of Yann M’Vila after making a €15m bid for the midfielder, according to L’Equipe.
The 22-year-old has been subject to intense speculation this summer after an excellent season with Rennes in Lique 1 last campaign.
Arsenal were strongly linked with a move for M’Vila before the European championships with the Telegraph reporting that the Gunners were close to sealing a £17.7m deal for the Frenchman.
However, a transfer has failed to materialise and Arsene Wenger’s interest seems to have cooled in recent weeks, leaving the door open to their north London rivals.
French-based newspaper L’Equipe claim that Tottenham have now made their move for the midfielder after making a €15m offer, as they look to take advantage of Rennes’ difficult financial situation.
New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season but the Portuguese coach may have to up his opening bid, with Rennes said to be holding out for nearer €20m for their star man.

The report comes just days after Rennes Chairman Frederic de Saint-Sernin confirmed the 22-year-old had received an offer from the Premier League:
“He (M’Vila) has a very concrete offer from England,”
Saint-Sernin is quoted as saying by Goal.com
