Sahin Latest: Liverpool Move Back On As Arsenal Deal Collapses
Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin is now on his way to Liverpool after Arsenal’s move to loan the midfielder collapsed, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, the Nuri Sahin saga takes another twist.
Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin is now on his way to Liverpool after Arsenal’s move to loan the midfielder collapsed, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
The paper claim the players agent, Reza Fazeli, travelled to Anfield on Wednesday to finalise the finer details of a year-long loan move to Liverpool after a move to the Emirates stalled because of Arsenal’s insistence over an option to buy.
Arsene Wenger is believed to have persuaded the 23-year-old to join him in north London last weekend and Sahin’s representatives met with Madrid officials on Monday to complete the move.
However, when Real informed the player Arsenal wanted the option to buy at the end of the year-long spell, Sahin got cold feet over the move as he doesn’t want to leave Madrid and he still hopes to have a future at the Bernabeu.
Liverpool have now emerged as the most suitable option as Brendan Rodgers will guarantee him a starting place and the Reds are also happy with a straight loan deal with no option to buy.
Marca claim Sahin approved the move to Liverpool on Tuesday and his agents flew into Merseyside on Wednesday to thrash out the deal, with the hope of officially announce the transfer on Thursday.

The whole Sahin-saga is becoming rather tedious. Only yesterday Spanish-based newspaper AS claimed the deal to Arsenal was done and Marca themselves were reporting Sahin had made up his mind to join the Gunners, and now today it seems otherwise.
While it’s plausible the move to Arsenal could have collapsed if Arsenal insisted on the option to buy, as neither the player nor Madrid seem to want that, but reports yesterday claimed the club had settled on the idea of having the first option to buy should Real decide to sell.
So who knows where this goes from here. Who would have thought a loan deal could be this complicated?!
