Wenger Confirms Wilshere & Sagna Will Be Involved vs QPR
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been handed a boost after confirming that Jack Wilshere and Bacary Sagna will be in the squad to face QPR this Saturday.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere and Bacary Sagna will be in the squad to face Queens Park Rangers this weekend.
Wilshere missed all of last season with an ankle injury but has been edging closer to a first team return and was a shock inclusion in the squad that travelled to face Norwich last weekend.
The 20-year-old never managed to get off the bench as Arsenal crashed to a 1-0 defeat but Wilshere continued his comeback after coming through 90 minutes for the under-21 side in a 2-1 win at Everton on Monday, with the midfielder playing a key part in both Arsenal goals.
After another full week of training Wenger could start the influential playmaker against QPR on Saturday but the Frenchman will make a decision on Friday whether he’s in the starting eleven or on the bench.
Another player who is in contention is right back Bacary Sagna. The France international is yet to feature this season after suffering a broken leg last campaign but he also completed the 90 minutes against Everton and could come in for youngster Carl Jenkinson who has deputised admirably in Sagna’s absence.
“Jenkinson has done very well but has had to play in every game. We are happy that we have Bac available again. His experience is important as well.
“Wilshere will be in the squad. Will he start? I haven’t decided that yet, I will decide that on Friday.”

After the Gunners put in another disappointing display against Schalke on Wednesday night, it’s clear the team are in dire need of a shake-up and the return of Wilshere and Sagna could be the timely boost we need.
I would like to see both players start on Saturday in place of Jenkinson and Ramsey, and hopefully Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gibbs and Walcott are also back in the squad. With those five back we will have something like our strongest eleven available and it couldn’t have come at a better time after a disastrous week for AFC.
