Arsenal To Finally Land Gourcuff?
Arsenal could finally land long-term target Yoann Gourcuff after Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas revealed the club are ready to sell if a suitable offer comes in
Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Yoann Gourcuff is linked with Arsenal.
Arsenal could finally land long-term target Yoann Gourcuff after Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas revealed he’s ready to sell the playmaker if a suitable offer comes in, according to Sky Sports.
Gourcuff was once considered as one of Europe’s most highly rated attackers and was considered a marquee signing for Lyon when they snapped him up from rivals Bordeaux in 2010.
However, the France international’s time at the Stade Gerland has been plagued by a series of injuries and he’s struggled for form during the past 18 months.
Now chairman Aulas has admitted the 26-year-old has so far proved to be a disappointing signing in terms of value for money and he would be willing to cash in if the right offer was tabled.
“He needs to win back his position in the team after his knee injury,”
“We hope he’ll be in the squad for the Marseille trip. If he comes back, if he has good offers and if he wants to leave, we could sell him.
“We made a huge investment to sign him when he was the best French player.
“For now, we can’t say this investment hasn’t been economically interesting.”
Aulas is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
Arsenal have been strongly linked with Gourcuff in recent transfer windows and Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the player, so Aulas’ open invitation may alert the Frenchman.

While Gourcuff was a fine player in his prime, he’s far from his best these days. We could certainly do with adding to our attacking options when the window re-opens in January but I’d only really like to see Gourcuff come to the Emirates if we can pick him up in a cut-price deal and ensure he passes a rigorous medical!
