Arsenal Ready To Sell Midfielder After Deciding Against New Contract Offer
Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong this January after Arsene Wenger decided against offering him a new contract at the club
Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Arsenal could sell Emmanuel Frimpong.
Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong this January after deciding against offering him a new contract.
The Mirror are one of several news outlets who’ve covered this story and claim that Arsene Wenger has decided not to offer him a new deal due to concerns over his attitude and discipline. With his contract running out at the end of the season, the boss is now ready to sell in January rather than lose the tough-tackling midfielder for nothing in the summer.
Frimpong has seen his Gunners career blighted by injury after suffered two serious knee ligament injuries over the past three seasons. He has been at the club since he was nine years old and came through the clubs academy but it seems his time in north London could be about to end.
Many expected Frimpong to be handed a new deal after successfully overcoming his latest knee injury and a loan move looked likely in January to get his match sharpness back. However, it’s now claimed that he’ll move on permanently when the window re-opens with Wolves said to be interested.
The 20-year-old spent time on loan with Wolves last season before seeing his time with the club cut-short by injury but there are doubts over whether the player would want to drop down to the Championship as he would favour a move to a Premier League side.

If this story is true and Frimpong does leave in January, this will be a sad end for a player who’s spent over 10 years at the club. I had high hopes from Frimmy as he always gives 100% on the pitch and he seems to get on well with a lot of the lads at the club, but with the likes of Wilshere, Arteta, Diaby and now Coquelin all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order, it was always going to be difficult for him to make a breakthrough.
Hopefully we’ll see him go to a Premier League club because he’s better than the Championship. Someone like Fulham or maybe Aston Villa would be a good home for him. Whatever happens, we wish him well.
