Huntelaar Wants ‘Dream’ £6m Arsenal Move
Liverpool target and Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar wants to seal a dream £6m move to Arsenal this January now that Robin van Persie has left the club.
Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is once again linked with a move to Arsenal.
Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar wants to seal a £6m move to Arsenal this January now that Robin van Persie has left the club, according to the Daily Mail.
The Dutch hitman is in the final year of his contract with Schalke and is set to move after being unable to agree terms over a new deal, and the Bundesliga club are ready to cash in now rather than lose him for nothing in the summer.
Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs who’ve been strongly linked with a move for the 29-year-old, with the German outfit confirming scouts from the Premier League duo have attended matches in recent weeks to run-the-rule over the striker.
However, the Mail claim Huntelaar ‘dreams’ of playing for Arsenal but has always feared a move would never be sealed while international team-mate Robin van Persie was at the club. It’s claimed that the Holland strikers don’t get on too well and Huntelaar felt this would kill any chance of the Gunners signing him.
But with van Persie now at Manchester United and Huntelaar available at a cut price due to his precarious contract situation, a move is now firmly on the cards for the prolific hitman.
Ex-Holland striker Erik Meyer, who’s agent Arnold Oosterveer is also Huntelaar’s agent, recently claimed the former AC Milan and Real Madrid man is set to move this winter and suggested Arsenal were favourites to land him.
‘According to the information I have, Huntelaar will be gone in the winter. Arsenal are the favourites.’
Meyer is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted last week that he wants to sign a striker when the window re-opens, as he’ll be left short of attacking options with Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh heading off to the African Cup of Nations, and Huntelaar is high on the Frenchman’s wish list.
However, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is also a huge fan of the Dutchman’s and is also in the market for a forward this winter due to his over-reliance on Luis Suarez for goals this season.
