Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted he may be set to raid La Liga claiming there are bargains to be found in Spain due to the countries financial problems
Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Arsene Wenger hints at a raid on La Liga.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted he may be set to raid La Liga claiming there are bargains to be found in Spain due to the countries financial problems, according to talkSPORT.
The Frenchman recently admitted he’s got funds to spend when the transfer window re-opens in January and claims he’s looking to bring in two new faces to freshen up the squad.
When quizzed about Swansea manager Michael Laudrup’s recent acquisitions of Michi and Pablo Hernandez from Spain, Wenger was full of praise for the duo and hinted he may be tempted to look at La Liga himself as there are bargains to be had:
“(Michu) stands out because he gets the goals, but Pablo Hernandez is a very creative player as well.”
“Michael Laudrup has bought well. I must say for someone who knows the Spanish market, it is maybe a good period to sign players because the clubs are in trouble financially and you can make bargains there.”
Wenger is quoted as saying by talkSPORT
We have already benefited from the financial trouble in Spain with the £12m purchase of Santi Cazorla from Malaga in the summer, and it seems the boss could be tempted back in to the Spanish market.
Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks, with a striker likely to be Arsene’s priority this winter due to our lack of depth in the forward department.

talkSPORT claim Wenger is lining up a move for Atletico Madrid’s Adrian Lopez this January but whether that moves comes off remains to be seem. If Arsene’s going to raid La Liga, personally I’d like to see him go for Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente.
