Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Linked With Colombian Midfielder
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keeping a close eye on Napoli’s versatile Colombian midfielder Juan Zuniga with a view to making a possible move this month.
With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Arsenal are linked with a Colombian midfielder.
Now that Theo Walcott has signed his new contract, it’s time for Arsene Wenger to start concentrating on bringing in some new faces before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. One player he’s keeping a close eye on is Napoli midfielder Juan Zuniga, according to the Daily Express.
The report claims Wenger is looking to strengthen his midfield this month with an ‘enforcer’ who can compliment the talents of Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Mikel Arteta, and Zuniga is understood to be under consideration.
Arsenal’s reported interest came as no surprise to the 27-year-old’s agent, Riccardo Calleri, who confirmed there is interest in his client from England and Spain.
“Arsenal interested? We know very well that English and Spanish teams at the highest level are interested and are looking at Zuniga.
“But I think it is normal, as is the case with [Edinson] Cavani, it also happens to my client.
“The Colombian is attractive to many teams because he is versatile, can play more advanced, more defensive and could be of great use to a lot of clubs.” Calleri is quoted as saying by the Express

The Colombian has been a huge hit at Napoli since moving from Sienna in 2009 and has clocked up 90 appearances for the club so far. He’s a versatile midfielder who can play on either wing and can also operate in defence, so he’d certainly provide the boss with plenty of options if he does make the move to north London.
I’ve been calling for Arsene to bring in a defensive midfielder this month but i’m not sure Zuniga is our best bet. Personally, I’d prefer either Yann M’Vila or Etienne Capoue but let’s see what the boss brings us in the coming weeks.
