Liverpool: Striker suffers on International duty
Written by Football Talk.
Liverpool have been dealt an injury blow with news coming out of Holland that Dirk Kuyt has been ruled out for several weeks with a shoulder injury.
The accident happened when the Reds man landed awkwardly as he stretched for a cross, with some reports claiming he had attempted a scissor kick, during yesterday afternoon’s training session.
The 30-year-old has been immediately ruled out of tonight’s European Championship qualifier between Holland and Finland, and it’s feared he will be out for up to 4 weeks.
Kuyt is due back at Melwood this morning for further assessment by the Liverpool medical team and a prognosis is expected this afternoon. However, Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk has already claimed the player will miss a few weeks:
“He will probably have a few weeks off and at 4pm today he will step on to the plane to Liverpool,” Van Marwijk told the Dutch media.
